At least 13 trains have been cancelled from Manchester Piccadilly station this morning causing travel chaos across the rail network.
The cancellations have taken place after a safety issue became apparent at Heald Green with a “line blockage” reported.
A National Rail spokesperson said: “A safety inspection between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport means some lines are blocked.
“As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.
“Disruption is expected until 12:00.”
