Ruben Amorim claimed that it was “far from a perfect performance” as he analysed Manchester United’s 4-0 victory over Everton in his third match in charge.
Two goals apiece for Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee gave Amorim his most convincing result since taking over from Erik ten Hag, but having overseen a Premier League match at Old Trafford for the first time, insisted that more work needs to be done.
The Portuguese head coach pinpointed the opening 25 minutes where Everton caused the hosts considerable issues, before Rashford’s deflected strike found the back of the net, as a lengthy period he was unhappy with.
“It was far from a perfect performance,” Amorim told the BBC. “We have to improve, you can feel that in the game. After 15 minutes Everton controlled the game and it was difficult for us and we were losing the second ball.
“I felt that the players could solve some problems that we have as a team because of the quality that they have but it was far from a perfect performance but a really good result and tough match.”
