Major search launched after child, 3, falls into icy cold Leicestershire river


Police have launched a search after reports that a three-year-old child has fallen into a river in Leicestershire.

Emergency services, including water rescue teams, are on the scene and are searching the River Soar.

The reports came in at roughly 5pm, Leicestershire Police confirmed.

Officers and rescue teams are in Aylestone Road, in Braunstone.

A fire and rescue service spokesman said: “This is a police-led incident. We can confirm we were alerted at 17:05 and still have water rescue teams at the scene.”
