German airline Lufthansa looks set to face chaos in the coming weeks, as a comprehensive pilot strike looms. In a ballot, a very clear majority has voted in favour of industrial action at the Lufthansa core company and its cargo subsidiary, Lufthansa Cargo, according to the Vereinigung Cockpit union.
This news comes just hours after The Lufthansa Group revealed it is banking on artificial intelligence, automation, and digitalisation to boost profitability by the end of the decade.. However, this move entails cutting around 4,000 jobs by 2030, which digital processes and AI applications will replace.
