M4 traffic LIVE: Chaos as major motorway shut with drivers facing 45-minute queues


Drivers on the M4 are facing long delays after the major motorway was shut in both directions. The road remains closed after first being shut at around 12.32am this morning following a crash.

Traffic cameras show the full extent of the chaos, with long queues of standstill traffic between junction 49 Pont Abraham and junction 48 Hendy, Llanelli, in Carmarthenshire. 

At 8am there were 45-minute delays with Traffic Wales, which monitors the main routes in Wales, saying: “Road continues to remain closed . Busy in the area delays showing as approximately 45 minutes in the surrounding areas. Please allow additional time for travel and thank you for your patience.”

There are delays on surrounding routes in the area and on the A48.
