Lorraine Kelly admits move away from ITV show is 'difficult' after starting new career

Lorraine Kelly has shared that creating her second book has come with great difficulty as she’s struggling to put her thoughts into writing. The presenter released her first novel The Island Swimmer last year and today confirmed she will be following it up with another.

Speaking on her show today, Lorraine was joined by journalist and author Jojo Moyes who discussed her successful writing career and her book Someone Else’s Shoes being released as paperback. During the chat the author brought up Lorraine’s plan to release her second book, which prompted the presenter to share further details.

On how she had become successful, Jojo stressed how being recognised hadn’t come easy after many rejections but that it made her work harder. After writing three books, she finally got her fourth published and has since had her work played out on screens.

Lorraine went on to bring up how Jojo had also kindly been sharing her knowledge with aspiring writers as part of BBC Maestro’s courses breaking down tips and tricks over 23 lessons. The presenter said she wished she had taken a class as it may have been easier to create her characters instead of sitting in a room and writing from her head.

“Sometimes that’s the best way,” Jojo chimed in, to which Lorraine added: “Exactly, you sort of self edit as you go along don’t you.”

On the topic of her second book, Lorraine admitted it had been “so difficult” to put the thoughts in her head into action and went on to tell Jojo she would take her up on doing the course.
