Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter fumes over driving license age restriction: ‘So upset!’

Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter was left fuming after she was unable to recover her wallet after losing it on a flight, which led to her having a “nightmare” over her driving license. The ITV star explained her ordeal to viewers, admitting the whole experience had made her “so upset”.

She explained the “nightmare” began when her flight touched down on Sunday night. Janet said: “The minute I got in my taxi, I realised I’d left my little wallet with both debit cards, my driving licence and my freedom pass on the plane.

She went on to speak about the airport website where people can search for their belongings, where her hours of searching yielded no results. Janet then explained that, while her credit and debit cards had been easy enough to cancel, her driving license was another matter.

She lamented: “I filled in the whole form online and then when I pressed submit, it said: ‘We see that you’re over 70. You’ll have to reapply.’”

As the audience groaned in sympathy, Janet raged: “You knew that from day one! Because at the top of the form, it says ‘How old are you?’

Janet then decided to submit a complaint, which she said led to a response claiming that she had spelled her name incorrectly.

The journalist maintained that this was not the case, and that her name had been spelled exactly the same way on the form.

Janet then fumed that she had been asked to send in a cover letter by post, explaining the supposed “error” on her driving licence.

Janet shared she later managed to renew her Freedom Pass, which is issued by Transport for London.

The pass allows passengers over the age of 60 to travel on London transport links for free.

Janet said that the whole experience had left her “so upset” and that she later bought herself a bag of manure for the garden to make her feel better.

Her fellow presenters agreed that “life admin” problems like these could be infuriating, all admitting that they had been through something similar at one point or another.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
