Lidl recalls popular snack over ‘burning sensation’ | UK | News

A common household snack from Lidl is being recalled after some experienced a burning sensation in their mouths while eating it.

If you bought the item from Lidl, you will be able to return it for a full refund.

Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels covered in milk chocolate, and those covered in dark chocolate have been recalled following urgent caution from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

According to the FSA the products are unsafe and could cause discomfort when eaten, reports The Sun.

Lidl has issued a recall for the snack across UK stores after warnings over people experiencing a burning sensation in their mouth.

The agency said the pretzels may cause a burning feeling in the mouth, “potentially causing discomfort and making them unsafe to the consumer”.

Customers who’ve bought the snack with the best before date of 30 June, 2025 and batch code 8535 should take it to their nearest Lidl shop for a refund.

Lidl last sold the product on 17 October 2024 and the retailer said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.”

If you bought this snack, you are advised to contact Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566 if they require further information.

This comes after Coca-Cola has recalled several products in the UK due to potential high chlorate levels.

Affected products include six-pack 250ml cans of Appletiser 100% Apple Juice Gently Sparkling and 330ml cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero, and Sprite Zero, which have been distributed exclusively to restaurants and cafés.

According to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, standard can sizes, as well as all glass and plastic bottles sold in the UK, are not subject to recall.

The company has released specific batch and production codes for the affected batches, strongly advising consumers not to consume the drinks.

The announcement comes after a similar recall affecting beverages in Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands earlier this week, reports The Mirror.
