Laura Hamilton in rare insight into co-parenting with ex as she shares personal struggle

A Place in the Sun’s Laura Hamilton shared a rare insight into her home life as she took on a massive challenge. The mum-of-two talked about what it’s like to juggle working with having kids, and even touched on her relationship with her ex.

Laura chatted with Jenni Falconer on the RunPod podcast as she prepared for the London Marathon 2024, which took place on April 21. She said it was a “massive commitment to take on” as she shared her worries about the training for it.

The Channel 4 property expert said: “When you’re training for it… training around a job, children – I co-parent with my children’s dad, but you know, when they’re with me.

“They’re nine and 10, I can’t just say ‘Oh, you know, by the way I’m just going to go out now for two and a half hour run’. And leave them at home. I can’t do that.”

Podcast host, Jenni, said: “It’s quite a juggle from that point of view.”

Laura replied: “Yeah, so that has been a challenge as well which is why being abroad every other week and working is obviously when I can get some more outdoor runs in.”

The A Place in the Sun presenter also opened up on feeling anxious. She said normally she can have “anything thrown at her” and be fine – but lately she has been struggling.

She said: “I’m not an anxious person. I’m normally like ‘do you know what, throw whatever at me. It’s fine. I’ll make it happen some way or another.”

“But I definitely feel like I have woken up on mornings and gone ‘what am I doing? What have I committed to?'”

Recently, Laura reflected on her marriage breakdown, confessing that she felt she had “failed” after her split from Alex Goward. The pair announced they were going their separate ways back in January 2022 after nine years of marriage and 13 years in a relationship.

Recalling their time together, she confessed that by the end their “marriage went in separate directions”. However, she was quick to say that since splitting, she and her ex are “still good friends”.

They share two children together – Rocco, 10, and Tahlia, six.
