Latest weather maps show enormous snow and rain bomb cover Britain from top to bottom


New weather maps show a huge bomb of snow and rain is set to hit Britain, bringing with it temperatures as low as -7C.

WXCharts has forecast wintry weather to sweep across much of the UK at the end of this week on March 1.

Snow will be at its strongest in northern England between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Kendal, northern Wales near Conwy, in Northern Ireland near Derry and in Scotland over Fort William and the Cairngorms.

Central Scotland will see the heaviest snow, with up to 10cm an hour near Fort William. The rest of the UK will see about one to three centimetres an hour.

Rain will follow behind the snow, hitting from Middlesbrough across to Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Plymouth.

Most of the East of England and the southeast from London to Southampton are forecast to avoid rain.

Temperatures will be at their lowest in central Scotland, sitting at around -7C near Tyndrum. The north of Scotland will be between 0C and -3C and the south will be about 0C.

The north of England will have lows of -1C near Kendal, hitting around 0C from Newcastle to Manchester. Wales and Northern Ireland will be around 0C.

The Midlands will see temperatures of about 2C around Birmingham and Cambridge with the south of England getting lows of 4C in Cornwall and Southampton.

Tuesday, February 27 until Saturday, March 2

Today:

Largely dry with sunny spells and a few showers, these mostly in the northeast. Strong winds across southern England and Wales with coastal gales possible, but slowly easing through the day. Temperatures around average, but feeling cold in the wind.

Tonight:

Winds continuing to ease giving a mostly dry night with clear spells. Widespread frost forming with mist and fog patches too. Rain arriving into the far northwest.

Tuesday:

Mist and fog patches in the south with a band of rain sinking southeast through the day weakening as it goes. Sunny spells and blustery showers as it clears.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Dry start on Wednesday with further rain arriving from the west, turning heavy at times through Thursday. Remaining cold and unsettled for Friday.
