Lady Louise Windsor will 'never be' a working royal as Firm fear 'public backlash'

Lady Louise Windsor will not be taking any role as a working royal in the future as the Firm fear the public’s backlash, a royal expert has claimed.

The Royal Family and their ‘slimmed-down’ state have been at the centre of discussions recently after the latest health woes involving King Charles and the Princess of Wales which forced them to take a step back from their royal duties and leave the rest of the engagements to only a handful of members of the Firm.

Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie’s daughter is quite a popular member of the Firm and her name frequently popped up in fan discussions over who could step up to help the monarch.

The 20-year-old is currently studying at university in Scotland.

But a royal expert has come out and said that, despite her popularity, it is highly unlikely that Lady Louise will end up as a working royal after her studies – at least during the reigns of King Charles and Prince William.

Royal expert Jennie Bond told OK!: “It’s clear that for the next 15 years or so (depending on when Prince George decides to take up, full-time royal duties), the working Royals are going to become extremely thin on the ground.

“But I’m doubtful that Lady Louise would ever become a full-time working royal, partly because I’m not sure she would want to, and also because The King and William know only too well that the monarchy has to be increasingly accountable to the taxpayer.”

Bond claimed having Louise working as a full-time royal could spark a backlash from the general public.

She explained: “The most common complaint about the Royal Family is that they cost too much.

“Extra working royals would mean extra staff, extra administration, extra security – extra cost. And that is not the direction that either the King or William want to take.

The expert added that Louise is still very much enjoying university life and “she undoubtedly casts an eye at her cousin, Zara Tindall” because she “sees the independence and freedom and fun she has in her life as a much-loved member of the Royal Family, but not a working royal.”

She said: “I would bet that Louise will follow a similar course.”
