Labour calls for protection of alpacas, llamas, and deer in livestock export ban

Plans to stop moves from Britain for cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses under the Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill will be considered today.

It would prevent them from enduring unnecessary stress and injury on long journeys.

Labour wants the Bill amended so species can be added in future.

The RSPCA’s David Bowles backed the move but said it was “critical” that nothing slows its progress in an election year.
