It is natural for grease to build up around our kitchens as we spend time cooking and baking. As well as our ovens and hobs, our cupboards can become sticky over time from oil and fat jumping out of pans.

A simple three-ingredient cleaning mixture has gone viral for being able to cut through the grease and leave your kitchen sparkling – and you probably already have all the ingredients in your cupboards already. With a seemingly endless array of cleaning products out there, TikTok users have appreciated being shown an easy-to-make cleaning solution that works on all kitchen surfaces. Cleaning influencer Chantel Mila recommends adding one cup of warm water with half a cup of white vinegar and one tablespoon of lemon juice. You can swap the lemon juice with dish soap if that’s all you have in your home.

Give the ingredients a mix and place in a spray bottle to make the cleaning process easier. “This mix is powerful at cutting through grease and grime around your kitchen,” Mila explains, and it can be used on your stovetop, cupboards, counters, and even hob rings.

White vinegar (a quarter of a cup) can also be mixed with two cups of water and a teaspoon of dish soap to create a floor cleaning solution that leaves your home “smelling so fresh”. You could also add a small amount of rubbing alcohol and peppermint oil to the solution, Mila advises.

Mila has also come up with a simple mixture you can make at home to clean your oven – without the need for heavy scrubbing. Add one cup of baking powder with a third of a cup of dish soap then apply to your oven and wait for 30 minutes before using a sponge to lightly scrub the surface. Then, you can use a scraper blade to cut through burnt marks, the influence tells followers.

Another of her kitchen cleaning hacks involves putting baking soda on a lemon to clean and deodorise sinks and drains. All you need to do is give your metal basin a good scrub with it before washing the mixture away.

To deodorise your fridge, meanwhile, Mila suggests mixing together one cup of water, a quarter of a cup of white vinegar, and vanilla extract. Empty your fridge first, then put the solution into a spray bottle, and apply into the fridge’s interior, before wiping away.

Mila’s other viral hacks include preventing hard water marks on your taps by using candle wax, using a mop to clean your bathtub without bending and hurting your back, and wiping your bins with peppermint oil to keep bugs and odours away.

She has also suggested removing stains from suede using micellar water on a cotton pad, adding salt to a laundry wash of black clothes to prevent colour fading, and applying shaving foam to mirror before wiping it away to make them shine and keep fingerprints away.
