King Charles's staff ‘worried he is doing too much for a 75-year-old’, insider claims

King Charles’ staff are worried he is doing too much for a 75-year-old an insider has claimed after his recent visit to hospital for surgery on a benign prostate enlargement. Speaking to the Telegraph, one source claimed: “The people who work for him are worried he is doing too much for a man of 75. It’s sometimes a struggle to keep up with him.”

Another insider said Queen Camilla knows the monarch’s work gives him an incredible sense of fulfilment and that she was “never going to change the habits of a lifetime”.

Despite her endorsement of King Charles’ packed schedule, another source told The Sun the Queen has “told him he needs to slow down a bit”.

The claims come just hours after King Charles left The London Clinic before taking a month off royal duties to recover from the surgery.

The King left with Queen Camilla at around 3pm and waved to crowds as they left the hospital on Monday afternoon.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed: “The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation.

“He would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.”

Following his surgery, the King is expected to return to Clarence House to recuperate and recover.

He is also expected to take a month off from royal duties but will continue to read the governmental red boxes he receives. Concerns had been raised about the King’s health after he had to stay an extra night in hospital.

However, a source told The Sun: “It is understood that Charles would only stay in hospital for longer than two nights if there was some kind of unexpected issue.

“The extra stay is entirely precautionary but has nevertheless reportedly caused some unease.”

King Charles hasn’t been the only senior member of the Royal Family to leave hospital in recent days. Princess Kate has returned to Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, to continue her recovery from planned abdominal surgery.

The future Queen was discharged from hospital after spending two weeks in The London Clinic receiving treatment for planned abdominal surgery.

In a statement, a Kensington Palace spokesman said: “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”
