King Charles's friend blasts 'nonsense' speculation after monarch's prostate surgery

A friend of King Charles has blasted speculation that the Royal Family will find themselves “at a loose end” after His Majesty was discharged from hospital on Monday.

The King will now spend time recuperating at home after the procedure, with some royal engagements taking a back seat as both he and the Princess of Wales take time off due to their separate health conditions.

Kate also left The London Clinic almost two weeks after abdominal surgery, with Kensington Palace confirming she will not be back at work until after Easter.

Prince William too will be prioritising taking care of his wife and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis over royal duties, while Prince Edward is also taking a break for himself.

This lack of working royals out and about has sparked some concern about the number of royal events being cancelled or postponed, but one inside source has claimed things will be very much the same behind Palace doors.

They told the Daily Beast: “It really is nonsense to suggest that everyone is going to be at a loose end. The public engagements are a huge part of the job, but much, much more happens behind the scenes, and that won’t stop.

“The King’s people are kept incredibly busy and I suspect if they only have a chance to catch up they will be jolly happy.”

This comes after another source told the publication: “Serving the royals can be a precarious business, as Queen Elizabeth’s staff found out when she died.

“(Royal staff) are not exactly twiddling their thumbs, but there is never going to be the usual volume of business to attend to if your principals can’t do royal jobs.

While the King publicly exited the clinic on Monday and waved to those gathered outside, Kate quietly slipped out without being photographed.

Many have speculated that Charles is trying to keep the publicity on him in order to protect Kate, as she focuses on her recovery at home with her family.

Little is know about the nature of her condition, other than it is not non-cancerous, and the Princess has requested privacy for her and her family at this time.
