King Charles will never strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of titles for one key reason

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, English said: “I think what’s interesting (…) I spoke to somebody and asked, ‘do you think anything, this, would prompt the King to do that?’

“And their reply was very firmly, ‘no, he will never strip of their titles. Never, never, never.’

“They were given to them by Queen Elizabeth, out of respect he wouldn’t.

“But he doesn’t want to completely destroy or humiliate his son and he thinks it would look really punitive to do so.”

She also noted a Member of Parliament, Bob Seely, has announced he tabled an amendment to a bill that would allow the King to strip Harry and Meghan of their titles much quicker than he currently can.

She added: “A backbench MP intends to bring a bill before Parliament for consideration to strip the Sussexes of their title.

“It’s an amendment to an existing piece of legislation. He sounds really determined to do it and I suspect there’s been a few people who would probably support him.

“These bills sometimes have a chance of success, more often than not they don’t.”

Under current legislation, His Majesty would only be able to remove the titles through an Act of Parliament.

In addition to the Duke of Sussex title, Prince Harry was also made the Earl of Dumbarton and Baron of Kilkeel, with Meghan taking up the feminine form of the titles.
