King Charles told to do one thing after Prince Harry lists US as primary residence

New documents show the exact date Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “evicted” from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles as he is urged to do one last thing.

The Duke of Sussex has updated his official business records in this country to make it clear that he no longer lives in Britain.

Filings published by Companies House yesterday for ‘Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex’ record that his ‘New Country/State Usually Resident’ is now the US. It was previously recorded as the United Kingdom.

The document showed that Harry pinpointed the date to the same date he moved out of Frogmore Cottage, as announced by Buckingham Palace last year.

Now royal author Angela Levin has urged the King to remove his son as a “Counsellor of State to stand in for the monarch should it be needed” following the filing, that effectively severs his ties with Britain.

Ms Levin wrote on X: “A document released yesterday on Harry states his home is now America. Surely he can’t demand full time top brass protection. Nor interfere with our media. Nor be a Counsellor of State to stand in for the Monarch should it be needed.”

By law, Counsellors of State are required to have a UK residence, which Harry no longer has. Until 2022, the Counsellors of State were Queen Camilla, Prince William, Harry, Prince Andrew and his elder daughter Princess Beatrice.

But as Harry, Andrew and Beatrice are not working royals, they are unlikely to ever be called on to deputise for the King, leaving just two people left. As this could leave the monarchy in a precarious position, Princess Anne and Prince Edward were added as Counsellors of State.

Charles ordered the couple to vacate Frogmore Cottage, which had been a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth, after the publication of his memoir Spare. Harry was said to be “deeply wounded” by the request.

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Charles and William knew it had to be done to emphasise Harry and Meghan were outside The Firm but he probably still thought he could keep a base here. Now he’s shown he accepts his life is in the US.”

It’s thought Prince Harry is considering becoming a US citizen following his move, though he said it is “not a priority”.

The situation has since become even more urgent because of the King’s cancer treatment, meaning his Counsellors of State are stepping in for him as he undergoes treatment.

Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively told Express.co.uk: “It [the change of residency] clearly finalises the split with Britain, as the Sussexes have had no British base after their eviction from Frogmore Cottage.

“As we know he has lost his attempt to challenge the security arrangements currently in place when he and his family visit Britain.”
