King Charles ‘savoured' Easter appearance as Queen Camilla swells with 'pride'

King Charles appeared in really good spirits as he stepped out for Easter Sunday with a beaming Queen Camilla by his side, says body language expert Judi James.

Ms James told the Daily Express US that Charles was sending out “signals of very congruent and authentic-looking cheerfulness, assurance and ongoing leadership.”

The King led the royals at the annual Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, exchanging a few words with the chapel’s clergymen outside, waving at fans and even bantering with the crowds.

James said: “As Charles savoured his return to the public spotlight [while] Camilla stepped to one side, offering a smile of what looked like pride and maybe even relief to the crowds.”

Camilla showed “no visible signs of concern or anxiety,” according to James.

According to James, Charles was very patient with himself, and the moment, and didn’t rush it, saying: “There was no darting into the service.”

“Charles stood calling out a few words of what looked like banter at the fans, pointing and laughing before waving at least three more times, suggesting a reluctance to disappear inside the abbey.”

The Easter service was a much smaller affair compared to previous years and neither Prince William nor Kate, the Princess of Wales were able to join the King and Queen with their children.

However, His Majesty was able to count on the support of sister Princess Anne and brother-in-law Sir Timothy Laurence.

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York also joined the King as did Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh with their son James, the Earl of Wessex.
