King Charles attended Remembrance events this weekend without his “rock” Queen Camilla by his side, and a body language expert suggested he felt like a “fish out of water” without Camilla present.

Queen Camilla was forced to withdraw from engagements this weekend due to a chest infection, but King Charles and other members of the Royal Family attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance on Saturday evening and led tributes at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Sunday.

On how the monarch was feeling this weekend after such a busy few weeks touring Australia and Samoa with Camilla, a leading expert says the King’s body language was telling.

Speaking to OK! Magazine on behalf of Spin Genie, Darren Stanton said: “Charles looks like a lost sheep without Camilla, he’s always looking around for her, she is his rock, his support.”

The body language expert added: “He looks genuinely happy to be at the Royal Albert Hall, but his body language would suggest that he feels like a fish out of water; with Camilla not there, he feels as if half of him is missing.”

Commenting on signs of unease, Darren believed the King “felt slight unease” at attending the events solo, without his wife present.

However, the expert claims the Princess Royal would have further supported her brother. Darren continued: “Princess Anne is there to support Charles and her presence helps ease this discomfort he feels without Camilla. So much so, that to an extent, he still appears his usual jovial self, cracking jokes while engaging with other guests.”

Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen would not be able to attend either Remembrance service. In a statement, it said, “Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events.

“While this is a source of great disappointment to The Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week.”

Today, King Charles led the nation in a two-minute silence on Remembrance Sunday to commemorate those who have died in conflict on Sunday morning. The King laid the first wreath at the foot of the Cenotaph, which featured 41 open-style poppy petals made from bonded fabric.

Wearing his Royal Navy uniform of the Admiral of the Fleet with greatcoat, poppy and sword, the King was joined by members of the Royal Family, with his son Prince William and siblings Princess Anne and Prince Edward standing beside him at the Cenotaph.

Princess Kate stood on the balcony of the Foreign Office with Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and watched 10,000 veterans participate in the Royal British Legion’s veteran parade.

Royal enthusiasts were ecstatic at the news that the Princess would attend events this weekend, especially considering Kate’s military connections, such as holding the titles of Colonel of the Irish Guards and Commodore in Chief of the Fleet Air Arm.

The annual service is a fixture in the royal calendar and is held to mark the Armistice of the First World War and all other conflicts involving British and Commonwealth forces.
