King Charles follows favourite Queen mantra with latest public appearances

King Charles has continued engaging with the public despite his health battle – and this show his desire to continue being seen.

Lat month, Buckingham Palace shared a video of the King going through letters and cards sent to him by well-wishers.

Rachel Bowie, co-host of Royally Obsessed, said of the moment: “We know, with the Queen, that was her whole mantra, ‘I have to be seen to be believed.’

“I think this is interesting, it’s on everyone’s radar, especially this week, when royals want to be seen, they can be seen, and that is what Charles is doing.

“That is his approach right now.”

Charles is on leave from his public-facing duties as he receives treatment for cancer at Sandringham House and in London.

Bowie, who was speaking to her co-host Roberta Fiorito, said: “I think it’s really touching to see the connection that he feels to the public, that he has.”

Charles received 7,000 letters and cards, some hand-made, some hand-written. The kind messages brought the King to tears.

She says of the well-wishes that were sent to the Palace: “And it also demonstrates the power of a hand-written, hand-made note, it does, selectively, get to the royals.”
