King Charles can't fit meeting with Prince Harry as state of relations revealed – 'Shame'

King Charles III is not able to fit in a meeting with Prince Harry this week, with an expert stating that this appears to show the true state of their father-son relationship.

After travelling into London earlier today, Harry is preparing to attend a special ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday, May 8.

The ceremony will mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, with Harry expected to give a speech to mark the occasion.

Speaking of the fact Harry is not meeting his father in the UK this week, commentator Afua Hagan told Express.co.uk: “I think it’s a real shame. I think it’s great they got to see each other earlier in the year. And actually, I thought the King would have made time for this meeting, I do understand he’s got a busy schedule and he still is under the advice of doctors, but I think it is a real shame.”

Discussing what this means in terms of their fractured relationship, she added: “It perhaps shows, I had said in the past that I thought the relationship was getting better, perhaps I was wrong about that.

“It also shows how busy the King is during this period and he is balancing those treatments as well but I do think it is a shame.”

On May 8 – the same date that Harry will be at the Games ceremony – the King is expected to attend a gathering at the Buckingham Palace Gardens.

The gathering is also expected to finish around the same time that the St Paul’s Cathedral ceremony will be coming to an end.

As reported by the Telegraph, the monarch – who is still undergoing cancer treatment – will also be holding his weekly audience with Rishi Sunak on May 8.

Prince Harry has been at loggerheads with the Royal Family for some time, with fractured relations escalating further since his royal exit at the start of 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the decision to step down as senior working royals in January 2020, with the pair undergoing their final royal engagement two months later.

The pair then relocated to the US with Prince Archie, who turned five on Monday, before welcoming their daughter in 2021.

Harry is said to have made the journey to the UK alone today, with Meghan remaining in the US with their children.

Meghan is, however, expected to join Harry in Nigeria later this week for further commitments for the Invictus Games.

The couple will travel to Nigeria separately, with Meghan flying in from the US and Harry travelling from the UK.

It remains unknown whether Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who turns three next month, will join their parents in Nigeria.
