Kim Kardashian offers a wild explanation for strange 'grandad cardigan' at the Met Gala

Kim Kardashian fans are hitting out at her Met Gala outfit — and more specifically, her decision to pull on a frumpy grey ‘grandad’ cardigan over her glitzy gown. However, she is defending her sartorial choices and has offered a strange explanation for her look.

The 43-year-old reality TV star donned a strapless metallic dress with a tight corset and an embroidered design that faded into a skirt made of chained flowers.

However, it was the small grey cropped sweater she wore on top that left fans scratching their heads. Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their confusion and disappointment.

One user wrote: “Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala sweater made from the itchy blanket from your childhood,” while another harshly commented: “Kim Kardashian looks like she just got out of the hospital after breaking her torso… Like they just wrapped her up real tight in a space blanket and gave her a cardigan. Not hot.”

When asked about the unexpected addition she flouted criticism and quickly defended the piece.

The guessing game continued as one fan speculated: “Something broke or was showing. She held that sweater so intentionally on the red carpet.”

While someone else concurred, questioning: “What’s with the sweater…made me feel like the top of the dress had a malfunction they had to hide last second.”

Her waistline— that seemed impossible due to the tight corset — also generated mixed reactions. One fan felt she captured doll-like aesthetics perfectly, writing: “The waist! Omg the waist,” However, not all shared their sentiments and another person snapped: “The surgeries need to stawp, why her waist unnatural like that?”
