Kids in tears on 'scary' Edinburgh Ryanair flight as 'adults brawl' and bottles thrown

A Ryanair flight that left Edinburgh for Tenerife was forced to redirect and ended up landing in Portugal after “chaos” erupted on board, it has been reported.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, February 25th. The flight was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Porto in Portugal due to disruptive behaviour from passengers onboard.

This is reportedly the second incident within a week on the same Ryanair route.

One passenger who witnessed the incident explained what happened over social media, reports the Scottish Express.

They said some of the passengers had been “out of control”, and it had been the “scariest flight I’ve ever been on”.

They added: “Big group on flight, fights broke out, bottles thrown, women almost injured. Get this little s**t off the plane… kids crying, everyone in bits.

“Currently waiting for the police to take some people off the plane then hopefully get to Tenerife. Luckily everyone is okay at the moment.”

It is understood the flight landed in Porto around two and a half hours after taking off from Scotland.

A Ryanair spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “This flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife (25 Feb) diverted to Porto when a small number of passengers became disruptive onboard.

“Crew called ahead for police assistance and the aircraft was met by local police upon arrival who removed these passengers before this flight continued to Tenerife. This is now a matter for local police.”

The incident cames six days after video footage surfaced of a brawl occurring on the identical route as passengers travelled to the Canary Islands.

The video shows two men and one woman engaged in a heated argument, escalating to physical altercations with punches thrown.

Members of the group stormed up and down the aisle and hurled abuse at anyone who attempted to intervene. Passengers and flight crew attempted to break up the fight, before demanding they take their seats.
