You can blame Trump all day long because you don’t like him. You can blame Netanyahu all day long, because you don’t like him. And it’s true, they are both very unlikable men. But be under no illusion, this one is on us. And by us I mean the weak, spineless, smug, complacent West.
We can wring our hands and clutch our pearls now, but we have known Iran has been building a bomb for years, decades. And we have not lifted one finger to challenge them. We have done nothing. Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty – and yet every single day for years it has been in violation of this treaty.
And we have done nothing. And how do we know this? Because the Iranians have openly bragged about it. Just today, after Iranian nuclear facilities took a pounding from US mega-weapons, Ali Shamkhani – the Ayatollah’s closest advisor – said Iran still had its weapons-grade nuclear material… And he said it on X.
Iran is also supposed to be subject to, and compliant with, nuclear inspections from the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency. And yet Iran has lied and cheated and deceived and hidden nuclear materials for years. And we, the West, have done nothing. And how do we know this? Because IAEA inspectors told us in a full report two weeks ago.
I have been talking at length to a pro-democracy Iranian group – freedom fighters really – who use non-violent direct action to get their message from the streets to the mullahs. And these brave Iranians are routinely tortured and killed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard – a bunch of psychotic terrorists the UK has shamefully yet to proscribe.
The freedom fighters shake their heads in disbelief at me and say Britain is not supposed to negotiate with terrorists so why does it appease the Ayatollah and his army of religio-fascist mullahs? It’s a fair question. And one I have no sufficient answer for. Appeasement never works. It doesn’t stop conflicts, it fuels them.
If Britain and her allies had come down hard on Hitler’s Anschluss in 1938 the whole Second World War and 85 million deaths might have been averted. Have we learned nothing? Even today our spineless Prime Minister uses weasel words to slime his way through this conflict, committing to nothing. He should be ashamed of himself and get Britain foursquare behind Israel and the US.
Equally shameful are the deluded fascists in our midst, demonstrating on OUR streets in support of the mad mullahs and their death cult dictatorship. We need a new Cable Street to take down these dangerous idiots. But we won’t. Because we are modern Britain and we constantly, perhaps deliberately, confuse the good guys and the bad guys.
Queers for Palestine indeed. We have lost our balls and our minds. At least enough of us have to make our once astonishing island irrevocably compromised, something of an irrelevance when it comes to real politics. And so little Israel and now mighty America are doing the world’s dirty work for us.
The work we didn’t have the balls for. The work we perhaps didn’t have the clout for. An Iran, and its angry hate-filled religion-fuelled leaders, with a nuclear weapon is unthinkable. Iran remember has a blood oath to erase Israel and every last Jew from the face of the earth.
This is difficult with traditional ordnance. But it is very easy with a nuclear arsenal. Iran today threatened Britain. And while we are far too distant for its missiles, the prospect of terrorist bombs in London – perhaps even dirty bombs – remains an all too real possibility. Yes it’s fashionable to hate Trump and Netanyahu but this is a job which needed to be done to safeguard the future of the planet.
It depresses me that some people in Britain still refuse to face the fascists down. Say what you like about Britain – and its haters usually do – but we used to know a fascist when we saw one and we knew what to do with them. Now, I am really not so sure.
