Johnsonville recalls more than 42,000 pounds of sausage links after plastic contamination

Sausage-maker Johnsonville is recalling more than 42,000 pounds of ready-to-eat pork sausage links for possible contamination with extraneous materials, specifically plastic fibers, federal food regulators say.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, establishment, is recalling some “Beddar with Cheddar” links that may be contaminated with the fibers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Thursday.

The problem was discovered after the firm received at least one consumer complaint about the product containing “very thin strands of black plastic fibers.”

The pork sausage links were produced on Jan. 26, the USDA reported.

Which Johnsonville sausage links are being recalled?

• 14-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “Beddar with Cheddar” marked with a best by date of July 11, 2023, C35 code date printed on the back. 
• The products bear establishment number “EST. 34224” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recalled items were shipped to retail locations in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Texas, the USDA says.
