Joe Biden makes scathing 'stormy weather' attack on Donald Trump in White House roast

Joe Biden ruthlessly attacked his Republican rival Donald Trump during a speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight.

Speaking to a crowd of more almost 3,000 guests, Biden described how he’d had a “great stretch” in recent months – compared to Trump who had experienced a period of “stormy weather.”

His choice of words were a clear reference to Trump’s ongoing ‘hush money’ trial which centres on an alleged payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who claims she was paid off to silence an affair with the former President ahead of the 2016 election.

Trump denies ever having an affair with Daniels and has pleaded not guilty to all 34 charges in a case he labels a politically motivated “witch hunt.”

Biden said: “I’ve had a great stretch since the State of the Union. But Donald has had a few tough days lately.

While Biden was met with rapturous applause, the night was overshadowed by huge anti-Israel war protests outside the venue.

The anger of demonstrators was captured in a series of viral videos, including the moment one guest is furiously asked “How do you f****** sleep at night?” as she walked into the venue in Washington D.C.

Chants of “shame on you” also welcomed those making their way to the red carpet and into the glittering Washington Hilton for an event usually remembered for its light-hearted roasting of the President.

Left-wing activists Code Pin organized a protest through Kalorama Park to the Hilton. The group accuses the media of endorsing the White House’s support of Israel.

A post on its website says: “The White House Correspondents’ Dinner, traditionally a symbol of journalistic integrity and freedom, has now become a platform that celebrates and endorses the administration’s actions.”
