Aaron Glenn claims he wasn’t confused — but we were.

Trailing 17-3 at halftime of Sunday’s loss at New England, the Jets head coach went to the locker room looking worse than his team after an interview with CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala in which Glenn appeared to mistakenly state that his offense would start the second half with the ball.

“I told our guys, ‘We’re moving the ball, [but] the thing is, we just have to finish,’” Glenn said. “Our guys will be ready to go. The good thing is we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish.”

Though Glenn’s statement seems to leave no room for interpretation, the second-year head coach pushed back on the perception that he was confused during Monday morning’s press conference.

“No, I actually talked about just the offense,” Glenn said. “I think they were talking about sustaining drives, and my conversation with them is when the offense gets the ball back, man, we want to be able to sustain a drive and go score.

“Then when the defense gets back on, we want to make sure we stop them and get the ball back to our offense. That’s what I was talking about when it comes to that. The conversation was talking about the offense at that time.”

The Jets did end up stopping the Patriots on downs and scoring a touchdown on their first offensive drive of the second half to the cut the lead to 17-10.
