Jeremy Clarkson aired concern for his pal Gerald in upcoming scenes in Clarkson’s Farm after the farmer admitted: “I can’t do no more.” In previous scenes, Gerald told his co-stars he had prostate cancer and was undergoing treatment for it.
And while Gerald may have taken a short break from work, in the upcoming episodes, the farmer was straight back to it and helped Jeremy and Kaleb Cooper move some rubble from the farm. However, during one segment, Gerald is forced to leave because it got too much for him.
Jeremy reflected on Gerald’s illness while driving the tractor and explained: “Gerald and Alan are good mates…and Alan when Gerald was ill was really a good mate. They have known each other for donkey’s years those two.”
He added when referring to the machinery: “Not sure how much longer Gerald will be able to do this it is quite bouncy and tiring.”
Later, Jeremy shared his concern for Gerald, he asked: “Are you alright because of that bouncing?” To which Gerald admitted: “No I can’t do no more today like that.”
Before he left, The Grand Tour star reassured: “We will manage but I don’t know how. But we will manage.”
“With Gerald gone, we gave it our best shot,” Jeremy said before adding: “But we were now on to one trailer and if I am honest, was a bit too small.
“We soon realised I was going to miss my deadline.”
In another emotional part of the series, Jeremy comforted Kaleb after his crops failed to grow.
After doing several moisture tests on the fields, Kaleb joked: “I think I have broken a record for how many times I can moisture test a field.”
Pointing to a section of the crops, Kaleb said to Jeremy: “That’s the rape stalk. Where are the pods?”
“There are no pods at all,” Jeremy replied as he turned to an emotional Kaleb.
“I am not in the mood,” Kaleb admitted: “I have had enough. All that time, effort, and money. I know it’s not my money but I still don’t want to do badly, you know?”
The farmer wiped a tear from his eye as Jeremy leaned in to comfort him as he said: “Oh, mate.”
