Jake Paul has issued a legal threat to Piers Morgan for suggesting that the YouTuber’s boxing matches are rigged. In the run-up to his bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday evening, Paul walked out of a video call interview when Morgan challenged the American’s fighting prowess and claimed that he hadn’t gone up against ‘real competition’ thus far in his career.

Paul went on to secure a convincing unanimous decision win during the event. The 28-year-old was in control for most of the bout, while his opponent from Mexico hardly made an effort to throw punches until the last couple of rounds. Following the cruiserweight fight, Morgan didn’t hold back and took to Twitter to mock Paul’s victory as a “farce.”

Morgan tweeted: “I had a better fight with Jake Paul on Thursday than the unwatchable farce that took place tonight. The guy’s lining his pockets with buckets of $$$$ – but he’s killing boxing with this boring staged bulls*** against older fighters way past their prime.”

Reacting strongly, Paul retorted on social media, stating: “After years of letting it slide as just ‘haters being haters’, I have asked my team to vigorously go after anyone who makes up lies about my boxing career. Expect to get served you pigs.”

His business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, also slammed Morgan’s claims as ‘baseless and irresponsible’.

“Last night’s fight vs. Chavez Jr. was a fully sanctioned 10-round cruiserweight bout, officiated by the California State Athletic Commission with official judges,” he claimed, stressing there was ‘no staging/rigging’ whatsoever.

He announced: “To say otherwise not only undermines the integrity of the sport, but is defamatory and causes reputational damage to MVP, Jake Paul, and the Commission. Enough is enough. We will be exploring all options, including legal action, to hold accountable those spreading such deliberate and harmful lies.”

Following a decisive victory on Saturday, social media influencer-turned-boxer Paul made it clear that he’s aiming high for future fights, revealing his desire for a rematch with Tommy Fury before taking on heavyweight Anthony Joshua next year – though a bout against Gervonta Davis might be up first.

He called out champions like Gilberto Ramirez and Badou Jack with bold confidence: “I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion. Zurdo looked slow as s*** tonight. That’d be easy work, too.

“Badou Jack. I want everybody. Anthony Joshua, Gervonta. And Tommy, stop running. I’m hustling, getting warmed up. You’ve already seen my face, get used to seeing it more. As soon as possible. I’m staying active, I’m fighting everybody.”

In a cheeky social media exchange, Morgan goaded Paul with a tweet suggesting himself as Paul’s next opponent and jabbing: “I’ve really rattled him. Perhaps I should be your next opponent @jakepaul – at least I’d put on a proper fight.”
