'I’ve kept animals like deer and rabbits out of my garden for 25 years with these methods'

Wild animals are a threat to gardens as they can dig up, destroy or eat your precious plants.

A seasoned gardener shared a few things that she’s done over the last 25 years that have helped keep pests out of her greenery, without having to get a fence.

In a social media upload, she confessed: “Because quite honestly, I never could afford that.”

She detailed her first tip for keeping animals that try to take over your garden at bay. She said: “I’ve harped on this one for a long time, but here it goes. Hair.” She explained that you could get free hair from a salon or a salon school. She advised to sprinkle it a couple of feet away from your garden around the border.

The gardening buff said: “Deers smell that and they’re startled. Why? Because it smells like a couple of hundred different humans.”

She also noted a scarecrow as a solution, saying you can’t put it up and just leave it. You should move its location periodically so that the animals don’t get too accustomed to it and they continue to be frightened away.

Her final tip was to buy some Repels-All. “I sprinkle it about three to four feet from the border of my garden. It smells very strong like garlic, and that’s what’s in it.

“Along with a few other ingredients, so if you have an egg allergy, I’d stay away from it. It does contain eggs,” she advised.
