ITV Coronation Street fans 'heartbroken' as soap bosses share 'horrible' news

“Heartbroken” fans of Coronation Street react as producers announced “dreadful” news. A multitude of devotees of the soap have expressed their emotional distaste following the revelation of a “dreadful” storyline on Monday.

Over the decades, the series has secured a loyal fanbase, many of whom tune in for every episode, week after week. Yet, a recent narrative development has disappointed several viewers.

The harmless and warm Roy Cropper has been arrested and accused of murdering missing teenager, Lauren Bolton, an act he was twice denied bail for – a storyline that has sparked outrage among viewers who argue that the much-loved character would never harm anyone.

In the current episode, an unwell Roy finds himself hospitalised. Carla Connor remains at his side, however, Roy declares their friendship over due to her nephew Bobby Crawford’s deceptive actions which were intended to assist Roy’s release from custody.

After concluding the tense episode, ITV executives posted a snippet of this emotional sequence on Instagram accompanied with the caption: “‘This is the end of our friendship’.”

Numerous viewers utilised the comment section to share their reactions, with user Ells stating: “No I love Carla and Roy’s friendship”, while Elaine expressed: “This is just horrible, the sooner this storyline ends the better”.

Another fan @doctorwho6 highlighted: “One of the best things about Corrie is the friendship between Roy and Carla and how much they both mean to each other.”

“I can’t believe the writers would end their friendship permanently. I really hope not! ” exclaimed Nikki, clearly distressed by the storyline twist. “This is just heartbreaking”.

Roy and Carla have always had a close relationship, bordering on father and daughter at times.

But tensions have appeared between the pair in recent episodes after Roy found out that Carla knew about the fabricated story her nephew Bobby had told police regarding missing Lauren Bolton.

Bobby changed his statement to say he had seen an intruder at Lauren’s flat before she disappeared.

This ended up implicating Daniel Osbourne, and Roy briefly had hope that the “new evidence” would help secure bail.
