ITV Britain's Got Talent star's five-word response to astonishing Golden Buzzer moment

A Britain’s Got Talent contestant had an unusual response to getting Bruno Tonioli’s Golden Buzzer, which guarantees them a place in the semi-final. Teacher Taryn Charles, 39, became understandably emotional as the golden ticker tape fell around her indicating that the Italian judge had pressed the button.

However, Ant and Dec weren’t expecting the response they got when they asked her how she was feeling as she walked off the stage. Still in tears, she announced: “I think I’ve wet myself!”

The Londoner had appeared nervous as she took to the stage in front of the judges. Explaining that she taught children with special needs, Simon Cowell asked her if someone had told her she couldn’t do this (perform) before.

She acknowledged that was the case before breaking into a powerful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. The audience and judges were wowed and as she finished, any nerves seemed to have disappeared.

Simon admitted that he had expected her not to be very good and was visibly delighted with her performance. Bruno went one step further though.

Having admitted that he had met Aretha, who had stayed in his house, he pressed his Golden Buzzer.

Taryn began to cry as she realised what had happened and Bruno rushed to the stage to comfort her.

However, her performance divided fans of the show who quickly discovered she was not as nervous as she claimed to be.

Within moments of Bruno pressing the buzzer, there was evidence posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, of her previous professional performances.

In one promotional clip that was shared, she was advertised as playing the late singing superstar Whitney Houston.

@WonkyGeorge queried: “#BritainsGotTalent #taryncharles Just a teacher and not a west end performer?” as they shared a review of a show she was in. (sic)

@CliveinEngland opined: “#BritainsGotTalent Taryn may have been very good but there is no way she is nervous of going on stage,” as he shared a clip that showed her in character as Whitney Houston. (sic)

However, others were more sympathetic. @AAngels05 referred to Simon’s questioning of her, writing: “Not Simon asking Taryn if someone’s ever told her she can’t sing like he’s never had amazing singers walk through his doors and he’s ripped them apart #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.” (sic)

@KirstieYallop applauded: “The best golden buzzer pick I’ve ever seen #bgt #BritainsGotTalent.” @amymariee98 enthused: “Omg Taryn! That was amazing! #BGT #BritainsGotTalent #GoldenBuzzer @BGT.” (sic)

Britain’s Got Talent continues on ITV on Saturday nights at 7pm. Previous episodes are available on ITVX.
