A tiny UK village is so Christmassy visiting it is just like stepping straight into a festive movie. From a house which features Britain’s “craziest Christmas lights” through to its gloriously cosy cottages – the charming village of Finstall becomes a gorgeous Yuletide wonderland.
This tiny enclave near the Redditch border in Birmingham draws crowds every night for its special Christmas house decorated by couple Malcolm, 65, and Wendy Molloy, 63, reports BirminghamLive.
Their home in Alcester Road, Finstall, has an over-the-top display that was featured on Channel 5 show Britain’s Craziest Christmas Lights – and their elaborate festive illuminations have visitors from across the country.
The Molloys have a donation box for charity too which really captures the kindness of the season – especially given it cost them £20,000 to create and adds £1,000 to their electricity bill each year.
Their garden is decked out with dazzling reindeers, swans, penguins, snowmen and, of course, Santa and his sleigh.
Wendy said: “It’s all for a good cause and we get people visiting from all over the UK. When you get the support from people coming to see the lights, it makes you want to continue to put them up.”
But the festive charm doesn’t stop there in the diddly village with around only 700 residents. Because where it’s small in size it absolutely makes up for with Christmas cosiness during the holiday season.
It boasts an array of fairytale cottages just like in The Holiday starring Cameron Diaz or Bridget Jones with Renee Zelwegger.
BirminghamLive said: “Lying on the edge of Bromsgrove, Finstall is surrounded by countryside and near the pretty Worcester and Birmingham Canal that has an enchanting walk to Tardebigge.
“Fairytale cottages are dotted around with smoke billowing from chimneys familiar to Cameron Diaz and Jude Law’s scenes in The Holiday.”
The village hall boasts a huge Christmas tree outside where locals gather for an annual carol concert – similar to a scene in the film Last Christmas with Emilia Clarke.
And award-winning British pub – The Cross Inn – offers a cosy place to warm your cockles on a chilly winter’s eve with mulled wine or Prosecco at the ready for a Christmas toast.
The cute pub won Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA’s pub of the year in 2019.
