Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two new Netflix projects in major switch up

Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix projects have been revealed as she and Prince Harry edge closer to the renewal date with the streaming giant. The newest venture will include a new cooking show and another set to be filmed during the US Open Polo Championship.

In 2020 the couple signed a five-year deal with the platform to produce content, with their biggest hit being their documentary series Harry & Meghan which lifted the lid on their relationship and their time in the Royal Family.

However these new shows mark a clear departure for the Sussexes as they seek new opportunities away from their royal connections.

Variety magazine reports that one of Meghan’s new shows will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship” while the other will revolve around polo, a sport Harry keenly plays.

Little is known about the programmes so far, with both their respective names and release dates under wraps, but both are said to be in early production.

The first series will be curated by Meghan, with Leah Hariton as showrunner and Michael Steed as director and produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Intellectual Property.

The last project released on Netflix by Archewell Productions, owned and set up by the Sussexes, was Heart of Invictus, which dropped last August and told the story of the Invictus Games behind-the-scenes.

However this time it seems Meghan is taking the lead, with her new cooking show being released in conjunction with her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.

The Duchess launched her new brand last month, which will stock a number of products including homeware, skincare and pet foods, designed to help the consumer imitate her Montecito lifestyle.

Her second Netflix series will reportedly “provide viewers unprecedented access to the world of professional polo”, a sport particularly favoured by the Royal Family.

The description added: “Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level.”
