Incredible photos show car completely inside UK home after crashing through window

Incredible photos have emerged showing a car completely inside the front room of a house after crashing through a window.

The car, which appears to be a Honda, ploughed into the bedroom of an elderly woman, whose flat is reportedly on the ground floor of the property in Belmont Road, Twickenham, south west London.

Local news website, Twickenham Nub News, said the vehicle smashed into the house last Wednesday evening (March 27).

It said neighbours in the “quiet” cul-de-sac were left in “shock and disbelief” at what happened, which did not lead to any casualties.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said firefighters responded to reports of a car in collision with the semi-detached property on Belmont Road, Twickenham.

They added: “Two people left the vehicle before the Brigade arrived and were assessed by paramedics. Firefighters worked to make the scene safe before handing responsibility for the incident over to the police.”

The Brigade was called at 6.06pm and the incident was over for crews by 7.10pm. Firefighters from Twickenham, Kingston and Heston Fire Station attended the scene, according to the Brigade.

Radio and TV presenter Jeremy Vine tweeted about the incident a week later, asking why it hadn’t been reported by local media and commenting: “Imagine if a bicycle did this.”

A keen cyclist, Vine said in such a scenario there would be questions in Parliament, calls for a new law to restrict bicycle speeds, the prosecution and jailing of the rider and demands for a curfew on cycling.

The comment was accompanied by a mocked up photo of the house with a bike and rider sticking out of the smashed in bay window.

Fellow X users responded to Vine’s tweets, with one saying: “Your home should be the last bastion of safety in this world, that is terrifying.”

A second x user said: “Wow. I’m going to presume everyone is okay. You are not even safe in your own castle.”

Another wrote: “I’m not sure how you get the car out, without making everything worse.”

Others asked how the car smashed through the window with relatively little damage to the wall below.
