'I'm a royal expert and there's only one royal who can heal Harry and William's rift'

One royal expert there is only one member of the Royal Family who could bring Prince William and Prince Harry back together for Christmas, as the two were once “best friends and thick as thieves”.

The princes had been close ever since childhood, but over the past few years tensions between them have grown, with Harry’s decision to quit the Firm and move to the US worsening relations.

The Duke’s decision to spill the beans about his experiences as a royal in interviews, the Sussex documentary series and most notoriously his memoir Spare appears to have damaged his relationship with his older brother almost beyond repair.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles between 2004 and 2011, detailed his time working in such close proximity to William and Harry.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, he explained: “They were best friends and thick as thieves. There are some brothers that don’t always get on but Harry and William were closer than close.

“They shared so much together, including friends. I have fond memories of riding in cars with them and they had such a playful dynamic. They would have banter together and even get into play fights. And this was in their twenties!”

Mr Harrold also gave an insight on how he thought the King would try and reunite his warring sons, particularly as the festive season is upon us.

He said: “Charles is not one to hold a grudge and it will be very painful for him to see his sons not speaking. Considering how close they once were.

“His aim will be to get the brothers together so they can put this nonsense behind them. It will be hard for William, though. Since Harry has spoken so much and revealed certain things, William will have lost that trust. It’s hard to get back.”

Even the Royals co-host Brooke Siffrinn told Daily Express US that she feared the rift between William and Harry may even last until after Charles’s death.

She thinks it is possible the princes will reconcile, but it will certainly take a while, with them possibly deciding to let bygones be bygones once William is King.

Ms Siffrinn believes there is still hope, as Charles and Harry may come back together first, leading him also back to William as “nothing that serious has happened between them. To them, it probably seems so big, but, they’re brothers”.

She said: “I think, if there’s any hope of anyone working out the feud, it is probably Harry and Charles. I think Charles really does love Harry, obviously, that’s his son.

“I think, maybe some day down the road, maybe when Charles passes away, I hate to say that, those two, it will just be them at that point, like maybe they’ll find a way, when they’re older to be like, ‘You know, this was stupid, none of this matters, let’s put it all aside’.”
