If you’re getting sick of this cold, dark and stormy January that we’re currently experiencing here in the UK, one sure-fire way to beat the winter blues is to book a holiday someplace warm.

However, with budgets already stretched thin for a lot of people, it’s likely that you’ll want to try and keep the costs down as much as possible.

Flights, accommodation and baggage costs can all add up, not to mention the money you’ll have to spend on food and entertainment when you reach your destination.

So if you really want to get the most out of your money whilst booking a holiday, then you’ll want to take note of one tip from a flight attendant that can significantly affect the cost of your trip.

Travel company Expedia has shared its 2025 Air Hacks Report, which debunks myths surrounding flight bookings for this year.

They’ve teamed up with former flight attendant and TikToker Jeenie Weenie, who boasts more than 11 million followers thanks to her useful tips when it comes to all things planes.

She’s debunked some of the most common flight-booking myths in a bid to help people save money on their next holiday.

And one of these is a very common mistake to make, as it might seem like it’ll save you cash – but it could actually have the opposite effect.

If you’ve already got a summer holiday on your mind, you might think that booking your flights far in advance will make them cheaper.

However, this isn’t always true. In fact, according to the expert, booking your international flights 13-21 days before you intend to travel is the ‘magic window’ for affordability.

Booking during this time window can cost you around eight percent less than those who book two months ahead.

But, when it comes to domestic flights, these are more affordable when booked 170 – 180 days before travel – saving up to 36 percent compared to leaving it to the last minute

As well as this, you might want to think about the day you’re actually going to book your flights, as there is one day of the week when you can make significant savings.

Jeenie said: “Booking on the right day can make a world of difference. Travellers booking on Sundays can save up to 21 percent on domestic flights compared to Mondays, and up to 22 percent on international flights compared to Fridays.”

And it’s not just when you book, it’s when you fly too, according to the pro. International travellers who depart on Friday instead of Sunday can save up to 14 percent.

On the domestic front, Saturday is the cheapest day to fly—travellers can save up to 18 percent compared to flying on a Monday, which is the most expensive day to travel.
