Illegal immigrant jailed for using fake passports to establish seven-year life in the UK

Namibian citizen Junice Tjaveondja, 30, used false Dutch and Portuguese passports, two aliases and bogus paperwork to set up a base in the UK.

The files helped her acquire a tenancy on a £200,000 four-bed house in Leigh, Greater Manchester, open two bank accounts and gain care home work.

Manchester Crown Court heard her arrest was a result of a probe into a criminal gang that supplied illegal workers with fake documents.

Now appealing for a third time to stay in Britain, she admitted five charges of fraud and 12 of possessing an article for fraud use and was jailed for six months.

Tjaveondja, who has one daughter in the UK as well as two in Namibia, first arrived in the UK in 2016.

She has been in custody since October and her lawyer told the court she has been “exploited” in the UK.
