'I miss Princess Kate' – Holocaust survivor shares sweet message with Prince William

A brave Holocaust survivor shared a sweet message with Prince William in support of Princess Kate, who is continuing to recover from planned abdominal surgery she underwent last month.

During his appearance at the Western Marble Arch Synagogue in London, Renee Salt told William that she misses the Princess of Wales “so much” and wanted the senior royal to pass on her well wishes to his wife.

Bracing the rainy conditions in the capital, William made his first public appearance since pulling out of attending the late King Constantine II of Greece’s memorial service in Windsor on Tuesday.

William, 41, was present in London today to take part in discussions about the rise in anti-Semitism in Britain. Although not physically there in person, the Princess of Wales wasn’t far from the minds of those in attendance – especially Ms Salt.

Ms Salt, 94, told William: “I’m sorry, I’m sure that if your wife would’ve been well, she would’ve been here. I miss her so much. Give her my best wishes, please.”

During their meeting, the 94-year-old also spoke of her experiences at a Nazi concentration camp.

After William asked how she “managed”, Renee admitted that it “wasn’t easy”.

William replied: “I’m so sorry it’s got to this stage, it will get better.”

He also added: “We were going to come closer to the Holocaust memorial day but unfortunately we had to move it but glad to be able to meet today.”

The engagement was originally scheduled to take place last month, with the Princess of Wales – who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery – also set to attend.

Also during his visit, William was able to meet young people who have taken part in the Holocaust Educational Trust’s flagship ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ project.

William also made mention of his wife during an important message to students in attendance.

He said: “Anti-Semitism has no place in society. Prejudice has no place in society. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I want you all to know you can talk about it and your experiences.

“Both Catherine and I are extremely concerned about the rise in anti-Semitism that you guys have talked about this morning and I’m just so sorry if any of you have had to experience that.”
