An Aussie gelato shop owner has stood up to shoddy parenting by kicking out a hysterical toddler and her family after they disturbed his customers. As the toddler’s tantrum blew up unbearably after she was told to share a scoop with her sibling, the family of four were asked to leave the presences.
However, the parents were unimpressed. Mum Laura Edwards – unrelated to the family – posted a video of the altercation online, imploring fellow locals to boycott the face.
The video, which reached thousands of online users, was captioned: “Adelle’s Café – do not support.”
Online users, instead of being in support of the family, were on the side of the shop owner and came to his defence in the mum’s comment section.
One hilariously blunt comment simply read: “Your kid is a brat.”
Laura said she was “shocked” at both the shop-owner’s and online viewers’ reactions to her kid’s temper-tantrum. She was reportedly disappointed to find online users agree with people “treating families and children that way”.
She said to the Daily Mail: “It wasn’t a meltdown or tantrum, my kids make more noise than these kids do, it was just a grizzly kid needing some help to sort through his emotion at the time,
“The parents were sitting down with them, they weren’t running riot.”
Commenters, however, were not in agreement and universally supported Adrian. One wrote: “Responsible parents should either have taught said children how to behave and show respect for others, or remove them from annoying others.”
Another brutally remarked: “I wish more places would kick out rat bag kids.”
According to the owner of Adelle’s Café, Adrian Dalloste, he stands by his decision to chuck the disruptive family out and stop the “crying and screaming incident” in its tracks.
Speaking to the Townsville Bulletin, he said: “Both children became upset when told they would be sharing a gelato between them, one of the children swiped decorations from the counter and threw a steel flask on the tile floor. For approximately 15 minutes the children were crying and screaming disturbing the other clientele trying to enjoy their meals and [the] ambiance of the café.
“The crying and screaming was constant and loud,” he said.
After 15 minutes of unbearable noise, Adrian made the tough decision to ask the family to leave.
Despite keeping things polite, the parents reacted abysmally and accused him of driving them out, reports suggest.
On this, Adrian said: “The mother appeared shocked. The father told me it was bad business and I told him, no, it is bad parenting.”
“I walked back into the cafe to avoid any more confrontation as they became vocal,” commenting on the equally-abysmal behaviour of the toddler’s parents.
