There is embarrassment for Nicola Sturgeon as her brand new autobiography – Frankly – has already had a massive price slash just a week after release. Both Amazon and WH Smith have already brought the hardback version down to half-price, from £28 to just £14.

The book has received many negative reviews, criticising the former Scottish First Minister’s version of events. Author of the famous Harry Potter series JK Rowling condemned the read, calling Sturgeon out for her “Trumpian” account of political events and failure in public office.

The surge in drug-related deaths, deletion of WhatsApp text messages and mass delays to CalMac ferries was not so much as touched upon in the memoir.

Many readers found little praise for the book, with scores giving it one star reviews.

One Amazon reviewer labelled it a “story of pure vanity” whilst another called it a “work of pure fiction”.

Tory MSP Annie Wells said: “If you are looking for any answers on the ferries fiasco, drugs deaths crisis or education attainment gap, this book probably isn’t for you.

“Even at half price, her self-indulgent autobiography is still terrible value for money.”

A Scottish Labour spokesman added that “it appears that Frankly is heading in the same way as Nicola Sturgeon’s political career – Downwards.”
