Huge game franchise could still come to Nintendo Switch 2

The additional power of the Nintendo Switch 2 means it can handle more demanding games, such as launch titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Street Fighter 6.

The console, however, is still missing some big franchises, chief among them being Call of Duty and Warzone.

This includes the newly announced Call of Duty Black Ops 7, which is listed for all major platforms bar Nintendo Switch 2.

Fortunately, this looks like it may change in the future, as Nintendo and Activision work together to port Call of Duty to Switch 2.

In a statement following the recent Black Ops 6 reveal, Activision said: “We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch. Both teams are working on it. Will share details when ready.”

While it’s not a definitive announcement, it looks like Call of Duty will come to the Nintendo Switch 2 sooner rather than later.

As a reminder, Activision and parent company Microsoft signed a ten year deal to bring the Call of Duty franchise to Nintendo consoles following the 2022 acquisition.

“Microsoft has entered into a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo following the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft is committed to helping bring more games to more people – however they choose to play.”

Despite making the announcement back in 2022, Call of Duty is yet to appear on Nintendo consoles.

Hopefully Black Ops 7 will be the first Call of Duty game to make its Switch 2 debut later this year.

Speaking of Black Ops 7, the first-person shooter was announced during the recent Xbox Summer Showcase event.

Launching later this year, the game takes place more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6.

“The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6.

“Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponises fear above all else.”

Black Ops 7 gameplay footage will be previewed during an upcoming event later this summer. Expect clues to appear in Warzone and Black Ops 6 in the coming weeks.
