Over time, grease, splatters, and burnt-on residue build up, leaving the once-clear oven glass looking foggy, stained and far from its best. So when it comes to how to clean an oven, the door does need extra attention as it gets dirty so quickly. If this is allowed to accumulate, over time, it will create a layer of grime on the oven door which gets harder and harder to remove.
However, no matter the state of your oven glass, cleaning enthusiast Michelle from Crafty Morning has shared a natural method that works in under three minutes. Michelle tested out this cleaning hack on her oven glass door that had “grease splatters out of this world”. She found this “brilliant hack” after the grease “didn’t budge” when trying out her first cleaning method – a magic eraser with water.
You don’t need any fancy things for this method, you just need some tin foil, baking soda and hot water.
Start by pouring about three-quarters of a cup of hot water onto the oven glass before sprinkling on a decent amount of baking soda, enough to cover it. Let it sit for 30 seconds before moving on.
Then you’ll need to scrunch up some tin foil and start to scrub for one to two minutes. Sharing her experience, Michelle said: “Barely even pushing, the grease started to disappear!”
Rub the tin foil over the baking soda-covered oven glass in circular motions until clean.
You can wipe the area down with paper towels, but you will need some new, fresh water to get the baking soda film completely gone.
Michelle added, “I can tell you after you do this, you will feel so satisfied with yourself! I really can’t believe this trick takes about three minutes start to finish, and I’ve been putting it off for no reason.”
Baking soda is non-toxic, inexpensive, easy-to-use, and remarkably effective for cleaning oven grease.
