One might think that cleaning an air fryer is easy, given that it cooks food using hot air and just a smidge of oil.
Yet, the reality stands somewhat greasy, with fat or oil often building up at the bottom of the fryer’s pull-out basket drawer and its sides.
Without regular attention, air fryer maintenance can morph from a doddle to a real nuisance.
With crusty, greasy food stuck to the baskets of her air fryer, @kirstenwhite1995, who regularly shared cleaning tips on Instagram, showed her fans how one “tried and tested” item “works like magic” to clean her appliance.
To get the job done, she swears by using dishwasher tablets. As Kirsten’s air fryer has two baskets, she used two tablets for this tip.
Kirsten captioned her Instagram post, “Air fryer cleaning made easy. Two dishwasher tablets, boiling water, and leaving for 10 minutes—that’s it!”
“Saves so much time and effort. Just rinse thoroughly after! No scrubbing required!!”
After cleaning, dry the air fryer with a paper towel, leaving it spotless and ready to use again.
Dishwasher tablets were designed to tackle hard water, remove stains, and dissolve grease and fat found in protein-based foods — so it shouldn’t be a surprise that they can be used to clean things beyond the dishwasher.
Dishwasher tablets are sold in local supermarkets or online but those with a dishwasher or are a fan of what they can clean with them will already have some at home.
Taking to the comments section, many of her followers shared their love of this air fryer cleaning hack.
