For special occasion dinners at home like Valentine’s Day, a good steak is a great thing to cook.

However, many people struggle with the cooking process and how to season a steak.

Luckily, self-trained chef and cookbook author Arman Liew has shared a three-ingredient steak marinade he uses to get “tastier and juicier” steak every time.

There is a misconception that marinades for steak need to have tons of seasoning and sauces in them, but that is not the case with this recipe.

Arman said: “My three-ingredient steak marinade recipe proves just that. It’s so simple but creates the most delicious steak and meat every single time.”

When cooking two steaks, the marinade consisted of one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, half a garlic clove and half a teaspoon of smoked paprika.

The chef claimed that Worcestershire sauce is “the magic ingredient” that just “works so well” with red meat. However, you can substitute this for soy sauce if you don’t have it on hand.

Smoked paprika is the “secret ingredient” that gives the marinade a “lovely smokey and rich flavour” without needing so much seasoning.

For the marinade, add all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until combined. Pour the marinade over two steaks and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

After, using tongs, remove the steak and shake off the excess marinade. Place on a hot grill or pan and cook until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness.

Cook for two minutes on each side for rare, three to four minutes on each side for medium-rare and four to six minutes on each side for medium.

For well done, cook for two to four minutes on each side, then turn the heat down and cook for another four to six minutes on each side.

Let the cooked steaks rest for 10 minutes before drizzling excess marinade over them. Don’t skip resting the meat as it’s essential to help the steak soak up and hold onto its juices.
