How to clean clogged sink without calling plumber – people are saying it ‘works instantly’

A sink that is constantly clogged can make doing basic things like brushing your teeth twice a day and doing your skincare routine a hassle. That’s why Dave, who often posts plumbing and homeowner tips to his TikTok account, has detailed how to unclog your sink when you’re completely at your wit’s end, and people are saying it works like a charm.

He explains: “If your sinks clogged there’s a way you can fix it yourself. Do not call the plumber yet. Now, the most important part to unclogging your sink is sticking your finger in the overflow.

“If you don’t have one don’t worry about it, but this is what’s going to give us the ability to get this suctioned.”

Dave explained that if you don’t cover the overflow with your finger while using his method, the dirty bits will push straight up the overflow, making the task of unclogging your sink redundant. Once you have covered your overflow, you can grab a sink plunger and go ahead and plunge your sink similar to how you’d plunge a toilet.

Dave demonstrated how to do it effectively in his TikTok upload. The sink was previously filled with a bunch of grime and “nastiness.”

But Dave said: “With just one minute of plunging I was able to loosen it all up, send it all back the drain and the sink is running clear.”

People left their thoughts on the method in the comments section of the video, with multiple people even saying it worked for them right away.

They said: “Spent so long trying to fix mine, this worked instantly.”

Another person mirrored that sentiment, writing: “Wild how this worked instantly.”

And a third person said: “Never thought to cover the hole. THANK YOU! This worked INSTANTLY.”

Truly appreciative of how helpful the method was, an additional person praised the hack.

They said: “Thank you so much! I’ve had issues with this damn sink for years and this is the one thing that actually worked! I’m so happy.”
