On Thursday, May 1, the UK will see the hottest temperatures so far this year, with figures reaching up to 28C in the capital. The Met Office states the UK can expect “a very warm and sunny day on Thursday”, with temperatures across England hiking into the mid to high 20s. The West Country will seeing 25C, while Devon and Cornwall will sit comfortably above 20C, with numbers of 22-23C staying throughout Thursday. Up in the Midlands, Birmingham will be slightly hotter than the south west, with an average of 25C in the afternoon on 1 May.
The morning will also be warmer, with a hot 20C coming in at 10am. In Leeds, temperatures will also soar up to a scorching 25C. Between 1pm and 4pm, figures will hover at around 25C, with the warm weather continuing into the evening. Manchester will reach highs of 24C on the same day, with full sun expected from 7am and the heat staying into the evening. However, neighbouring Liverpool will be slightly cooler, with an average of 21C on Thursday afternoon.
Middlesbrough and Newcastle will both reach 24C on May 1, with temperatures staying around the lower 20s for most of the day. In Wales, figures will hike up to 24C, with cities across the country all above 20C. In Northern Ireland and Scotland, figures will be slightly cooler, hovering in the late teens.
