The UK is preparing for a mini heatwave next week as temperatures in England exceed 30C in many areas. New maps from WXCHARTS, aided by MetDesk data, have revealed that the hot weather is due to hit on June 21. South England is expected to experience the highest temperatures, reaching 31C in London, Kent, and West Sussex.
Other areas such as Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Essex, and Lincolnshire may get to 30C, according to the maps. The east of the country is due to bear the brunt of the heat, with temperatures along the coast ranging from 19C to 29C. In the west it will be slightly cooler, between 16C and 25C.
Even Scotland is due to get a blast of warmth as temperatures reach 27C in Eyemouth and Dunbar. Conditions will be cooler further north – between 18C and 20C in the Highlands.
Separately, the Met Office’s long-range forecast for June 15-24 reads: “On Sunday, rain and showers will be slow to clear across the north, especially across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
“Further south, high pressure to the southwest of the UK will extend northeastwards, bringing settled and fair weather mainly across England and Wales.
“Cloud and rain may hold on for longer across western Scotland and Northern Ireland, while the weather should turn drier and brighter across eastern Scotland where sheltered by high ground.
“From mid week, high pressure is signalled to dominate much of the UK, bringing dry and fine weather, and feeling warm in the sunshine with light winds for most.
“Any early morning mist or fog will be quick to clear, and daytime temperature will likely trend around or above normal for the time of year.”
