Racing was abandoned at Auteuil on Saturday afternoon due to weather becoming increasingly severe. There were weather warnings in the area prior to the card getting underway, with the forecast worsening as time went on.
Heading into the final race on the card, at 15.07, winds began to worsen before the heavens opened and a hail storm ensued. The race continued nevertheless, with jockeys visibly looking distracted by the conditions.
Footage showed golf ball-sized hail stones then hitting the track, with the majority of the field being pulled up as a result – with jockeys recognising that the conditions were quickly becoming unsafe.
The klaxon then sounded on course, with officials ruling that the race should be stopped due to the conditions.
