As summer is here, many are plotting getaways and outdoor escapades to make the most of the sunny season. While jetting off abroad is always fun, it can hit the wallet hard. Fortunately, Britain is brimming with fabulous staycation destinations that promise unique adventures and days out without the hefty price tag.
One of these beautiful spots can be found int Kent. Boasting cobbled beaches, colourful houses, and quaint streets, Deal has been hailed as a “dreamy” place for a calming getaway.
The coastal town is known for its historic connections to the se and has been hailed as one of the best places to live in the UK, according to Zoopla.
It boasts a bustling high street with charming independent shops, two beautiful castles – Deal Castle and Walmer Castle, and stunning seafront views. The location also gained attention after being used as a filming spot for the popular ITV drama, Liar.
A video went viral after it showed what’s on offer if you visit Deal – and people are obsessed.
The post, shared on @keeperscottages, stated: “Welcome to Deal. A hidden gem of Kent, perfect for a short break or family holiday. We have a range of beautiful houses, cottages and apartments to rent right here in Deal.”
Keepers Cottages added: “Just one hour and 23 minutes from London St Pacras, it’s fully of picturesque buildings and pastel coloured houses with dozens of amazing food places, plenty of dog-friendly beaches, restaurants, cafes, and shops.”
There is also a Saturday market that runs and sells local produce. Plus, there are three championship golf courses for anyone who enjoys a putt.”
After watching the TikTok clip, people took to the comments section to share their hopes of visiting the staycation spot.
One individual said: “On my list. When I visit England.” Another wrote: “We have friends in Deal and it is exactly this lovely.”
A third added: “So lovely.” And a fourth remarked that the scenery looks absolutely “dreamy”.
Getting there
Kent town centre to Deal is approximately an hour’s drive away. There are several good parking spots including car parks and on-street parking. The cheapest spot to park is on Beach Street. You can park for £1.30 per hour and stay for five hours. Daily rates are priced at £6.50.
If you don’t plan on driving, you can easily get a train to Deal. Trains from London take up to an hour and a half. If you are travelling from the north, or Birmingham, you will need to travel to London first and get a connecting train to Deal.
